Early Morning in the Cobbler Mountains

I'm quieted by pastoral settings, especially during the earliest hours of the day, when the night clouds linger for awhile and the sun stretches out the shadows in interesting ways.

Summer Pasture, Aldie

Summer is a time of plenty on the Virginia Piedmont. Warm rains feed the native grasses, which, in turn, feed the Piedmont’s cattle and deer. This pastoral scene provides a sense of peace and abundance as the natural elements of sunlight, rain, and earth converge on a hilly pasture where the Civil War Battle of Aldie was fought.
